Young scientists school: NANOCARBON for OPTICS and ELECTRONICS

The variety and uniqueness of properties of carbon nanotubes, graphene and 2D materials attract a lot of attention to these materials both from fundamental scientific and technological points of view in physics, chemistry, bio-medicine and other sciences. Numerous scientific meeting are devoted to discussions of various scientific aspects of these materials.

This series of scientific schools for young scientists devoted to different properties of nanocarbon are organized with the purpose of providing information to young scientists about the most recent developments and prospects in this rapidly developing field. The schools are organized on the initiative and with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation (the project 15-12-30041). The co-founders of the school are A.M. Prokhorov General Physics Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”.

The schools are a complement to the International Conference on Nanocarbon Photonics and Optoelectronics, which is held every two years at the University of Eastern Finland (near Joensuu) (http://www.npo.fi). It is planned to organize this conference in Russia in 2017.

The first scientific school “Carbon nanotubes and graphene – new horizions” was held in Moscow during 30.11-04.12.2015. More than 100 participants have attended the school and listened the lectures of 20 invited speakers. This appeared to be very useful for scientific work of young scientists. The working language was Russian. The second school «Nanocarbon for optics and electronics» will be held in Kaliningrad (Russia) in partnership with The Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (https://eng.kantiana.ru/) having a rich experience in working with nanomaterials. The program of this school includes 28 lectures of leading scientists from Russia and foreign countries devoted to the synthesis, study and application of carbon nanotubes, graphene and 2D materials. Lectures will be adapted to a wide audience of scientists interested in this exciting area of modern science.

Information about the lectures is available on the website of the school.

The working language is English.

Meetings will be held Kaliningrad, in Science Park “Fabrika” (Gaydara street, 6) from July 25 to July, 29, 2015.
Inquiries may be directed to the email address: school-nanocarbon@mail.ru

Students at various levels, as well as young scientists, and all who desire to expand their knowledge in this particular area are invited to participate in the school.
